Grace Vanterpool has been a nurse for over 45 years, and has worked as a Consultant Nurse in Diabetes for over 18 years. With experience practicing in both primary community and secondary healthcare settings, and lecturing on diabetes in universities.
Grace currently works in Diabetes Integrated Care Ealing, West London, and has taken Ealing CCG from a poorly performing CCG in diabetes to performing above the national above average. She was part of the UKPDS study group and was also a member of all parliamentary diabetes group in the UK.
Grace has received several national awards for her services to diabetes nursing as well as her services to ethnic minorities. In 2006 she was awarded the community nurse of the year, the overall nurse of the year and an MBE. Grace was a founding member and co -chair of the African and Caribbean Diabetes Health Foundation UK. Chair of the Royal College of Nursing Diabetes forum and a current Chair of the National Diabetes Nurse Consultant Group. Grace was a trustee of the Oxford Health Alliance.
