About

Charles is Chief Executive of the Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN). He is a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Greater Manchester, an honorary member of the esteemed Faculty of Public Health (FPH), and the Ecumenical Canon of Manchester Cathedral.

He is a great advocate for equity and fairness in health and wider determinants for the Caribbean and African Diaspora. He is passionate about work that influences research, policy, and practice at regional and national levels.

He sits on regional and national governance boards for health, race, ethnicity, faith, etc. Charles has been named in the Health Service Journal top 50 most influential Black Asian and Minority Ethnic people in health in the UK for two years running (2022 & 2023) https://www.hsj.co.uk/the-50-most-influential-black-asian-and-minority-ethnic-people-in-health-full-list/7033425.article

His special interest includes Organ & Blood Donation, Civic and democratic participation, Female Genital Mutilation, HIV, Domestic Violence, Modern Slavery, Hate Crime, and Forced Marriage. Charles is a father of four children and enjoys reading and football.
