Dr Veline L’Esperance is an Academic General Practitioner and Senior Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, where she co-leads Black Health Legacy, a landmark study funded by a Wellcome Trust Discovery Award. The programme seeks to become the UK’s largest study addressing health inequalities and advancing equitable health outcomes for Black communities. She also serves as Senior Clinical Advisor in Genomics and Precision Medicine at the NHS Race and Health Observatory, contributing to national policy and research on race, genomics, and health equity.
Her research spans primary care, health economics, and health inequalities, with a strong focus on inclusive methodologies and community partnership. A former National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellow and recipient of NIHR Academic Clinical and Doctoral Research Fellowships, Dr L’Esperance is committed to developing evidence-based, community-informed approaches to improve health equity across populations.
