Podiatry is not a well understood and well-developed specialty across Africa. There is currently only one faculty of podiatry in the whole continent, hosted by the University of Johannesburg. Notable training programmes for healthcare professionals have been developed by pioneers and leaders in Nigeria and Kenya, out of critical necessity. What are the basics of diabetes foot care and how can we upskill more professionals across the continent?

The objective of this faculty is to provide a home for professionals with an interest in podiatry and diabetes in Africa. The faculty offers a point of entry to identify existing training programmes and a platform to elaborate and implement strategies to improve awaress and education in Africa.

The action plan for this faculty is under discussion. If you would like to participate in its formulation, consider joining our next event.
