Patient education is an integral part of diabetes care. Without trained educators, this responsibility lies with other professionals who will have less resources to dedicate to their specialty.
The initial objective of this faculty is to define the role of diabetes educators in Africa and grow the understanding of this role among decision-makers. The faculty is also designed to orientate people who may be interested in gaining training and certification, as well as identifying and addressing gaps in existing programmes to ensure the development of diabetes education as a profession.
The action plan for this faculty is under discussion. If you would like to participate in its formulation, consider joining our next event.
